Eating Out West Guide 2009/10
Cafes
'Opened in March 2006, since when this ultra-dinky spot has made a big name for itself for its delicious, homemade food. UKTV Food Hero nominations in 2007 and 2008 confirm you don't have to be big to get noticed. Serves breakfast and lunch, plus drinks and snacks all day. The emphasis is on fantastic sandwiches and salads (made to order), soup and cakes (don't leave without trying the butterscotch and plain chocolate brownies). Herberts Bakery bread is used, and there's a wide variety of Fairtrade products including hot and cold drinks, Divine chocolate and bananas. Catering arm, too.'
Caterers
'Both a smashing little cafe and a catering business, providing handmade deliciousness to order for all manner of events. Fresh, homemade soup, salad boxes and sandwiches, from hummus and falafel to chicken with jerk mayo. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan alternatives, Fairtrade teas and coffees, and the butterscotch & chocolate brownies are the stuff of legend.'
